Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello and Minister of State Dr. Ramatu Tijanni Aliyu have warned traditional rulers, chiefs and district chiefs in the national capital to refrain from allocating land illegally to unsuspecting individuals as anyone caught allocating land to individuals will face the full wrath of the law.

Regional Council Services Secretariat Secretary Alhaji Ibrahim Dantsoho reiterated the administration’s position during his courtesy visit to the palace of Supreme Ruler of Karu (Sakaruyi of Karu), Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwi.

Dantsoho, who said it was becoming worrying that some royal fathers are deliberately distorting the master plan of Abuja which has led to the illegal development of settlements foreign to the master plan.

In his words: “Your Royal Highness, as I was planning to undertake this tour, Honorable Minister Mallam Mohamed Musa Bello and His Excellency Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliu requested me to convey this message to all traditional rulers within of the FCT so that they can in turn inform their chiefs, village chiefs and district chiefs that anyone still in the habit of allocating plots of land to individuals should refrain from this act or be prepared to face the wrath of the law.

“Only the Minister of the FCT can allocate land in the Federal Capital Territory and it is a role he performs on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who happens to be the Governor General of the FCT.

Speaking on security, Alhaji Dantsoho also used the media to convey the position of the FCT administration to the royal fathers, urging them to do all they can to ensure there is no collapse of law and order in the upcoming regional council elections in the six regional councils making up the FCT.
