He made the comments during a briefing to reporters after a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet visiting State Guest House Padma in the capital this afternoon (August 14, 2022 ).

Minister Anisul Huq also assured the human rights chief that the government would definitely consider their proposals to provide training to law enforcement personnel on human rights issues.

He added that he had briefed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on what he had told journalists around the country about the Digital Security Act.

Anisul said that a committee has been formed with the Secretary of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Ministry of Law as chairman to consult with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on the digital security law best practices. .

Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the ICT Department and the Legal and Judicial Department sit on the committee.

“Delegates are discussing Digital Security Act ‘best practices’ with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. I have already received a report on this. After seeing the report, it will be decided on the steps to be taken in this regard,” he added.
