Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju today congratulated newly appointed Supreme Court Justices, saying it was a historic moment for gender representation as three women were sworn in as Justices of the Court.

Earlier today, history was made at the Supreme Court as for the first time nine new justices were sworn in at once, bringing the roster to 33.

New judges who have been sworn in as high level judges include Justices Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, Vikram Nath, Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Hima Kohli and BV Nagarathna.

“Congratulations to the nine honorable newly appointed Supreme Court Justices. This is also a historic moment for gender representation as three women were sworn in as Supreme Court Justices,” Rijiju wrote on Twitter. .

“My best wishes in assuming heavy responsibilities and in their service to the nation,” he said.
