Allahabad High Court Bar Association Elders Committee today issued a resolution/public statement qualifying the statement by Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju regarding the establishment of the seat of the Allahabad High Court in Agra as “Childish‘ and ‘Political motivation‘.

make a public statement, Allahabad High Court Bar Association Elders Committee said he took note of the statement of the Union Law Minister regarding the establishment of an Honorable High Court Bench in Agra with worry.

Pointing out that although the Constitution envisages the creation of chambers at the level of the Supreme Court but not at the state level, the Committee stated that the decentralization of the judiciary has led to the eruption of corruption, particularly at the level of state and central level

The resolution further states that as the general election draws nearer, such misleading statements are being issued by politicians in the helm of affairs, which is nothing but a political stunt for gaining an unfair advantage from voters in a particular district.

It is an attempt to create a difference between Agra Bar and Meerut district, who have been fighting for a long time for the creation of a bench in Meerut“, adds the press release.

The committee also said that the Union Justice Minister is supposed to know that without the approval of the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, no such proposal can be circulated.

The person holding the post of Minister of Justice is supposed to know this legal position. From day one, the consistent position and opinion of the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court has been that the establishment of a bench with respect to the UP is not necessary as there is already a bench in Lucknow. Especially when after Hill’ Area branched off from UP State by creating a High Court in Uttaranchal State. .”

Finally, the Committee of Elders, in its meeting held today constituted a “Sangharsh Samiti” planning the form of agitation to meet the challenge issued by the Union Justice Minister in making such a childish, politically motivated and fabulous statement.
