Law enforcement reconnaissance meeting features ‘sea of ​​blue’

Maybe this is the time we are in…..maybe it’s because our communities value law enforcement professionals more than ever, but for whatever reason, there had a huge turnout of police chiefs, their leadership teams, officers and K-9 police officers for the recent Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce (AMC) Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast ) at the Newport Beachside Hotel in Sunny Isles Beach.

Two mayors spoke from the heart to recognize and thank law enforcement for all they do to keep our communities safe: Mayor of Aventura, Enid Weisman, and Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach, Dana Goldman.

As Gary Pyott, President and CEO of AMC of the 1st Association and Senior Vice President of Campbell Property Management, said, “We are so fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity to recognize and honor our law enforcement teams from all over South Florida. We are very grateful for the support of Miami-Dade College North Campus President Fermin Vazquez and Dean Michael DeLeo of the MDC School of Justice, Public Safety and Law Studies, who sponsored this meeting. And our friend and longtime member, Al Eskanazy, founding president and CEO of the Community-Police Relations Foundation, sponsored the Anthony Damato Legacy Awards in the areas of community policing and criminal investigations.

Two other CMA members provided gifts to honor Legacy Award winners: Robert Tedesco, General Manager of the JW Marriott Turnberry Isle Resort, provided two day passes to Tidal Cove Water Park for each winner, while Dimitry Shaposhnikov, CEO of DSxpress. com, FrandMe.com and partner of Sunny Boat Rentals, presented each winner with a certificate for a four-hour boat ride with eight of their friends. Each Chief of Police was called to the podium with their entire team to receive a beautiful globe representing the “World of Safety” they provide to our communities. The Community Policing Legacy Award was won by Sgt. Marian Cruz of the Surfside Police Department for going out of her way to help victims of domestic violence while Det.

Isaac Chavez of the Miami Police Department won the award in the Criminal Investigations category for his tireless work in combating violent crime with the long-term investigation he launched, called Operation Miami Gun Shops.

“Congratulations to police chiefs across the county and honored officers. This event was a great opportunity to pay tribute to our dear friend Anthony Damato and to address our colleagues in law enforcement.
