Man arrested after shooting multiple times at police

EL MIRAGE, Ariz. — An El Mirage man was arrested for allegedly shooting law enforcement officers in at least five different events between August and December last year.

Saul Ballardo, 38, was arrested by Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers on Wednesday after allegedly shooting law enforcement personnel multiple times in five months.

No injuries resulted from any of the shootings, DPS said.

Ballardo was incarcerated in the Maricopa County Jail and faces charges including one count of attempted first-degree murder, 13 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, five counts of terrorism and six counts of discharge. a gun within the city limits.

An investigation into the crimes is ongoing. The DPS works in conjunction with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department, the El Mirage Police Department, and the Surprise Police Department.

The program shares information about unsolved crime cases in several ways, including television, radio and social media.

Anyone with information about a crime or recognizing a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the online program website or download the Silent Witness app to give advice. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and tips submitted are accepted at any time. The advice submitted is then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

People who submit tips leading to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
