JERSEYVILLE — Newly elected Jersey County Sheriff Nicholas Manns was among the recipients of the 2022 Law Enforcement Public Service Awards announced by U.S. Attorney Rachelle Aud Crowe.

Personnel from several federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies who have contributed to the success of federal business have been recognized for their commitment to pursuing justice and public safety. The awards recognize law enforcement officers and support personnel for outstanding leadership, outstanding collaboration, achievement and excellence in investigation, victim assistance and community engagement.

Manns, who worked with the Illinois State Police, received an award for his vision, implementation and leadership from the Illinois Public Safety Enforcement Group.

According to Crowe, Manns has successfully developed partnerships with existing community organizations to implement trauma-informed interventions and provide necessary social services to victims and witnesses identified by the PSEG unit during their investigations.

On Nov. 8, Manns defeated current Republican Jersey County Sheriff Mike Ringhausen, according to unofficial results.
