Minister of Justice, LG examines judicial infrastructure under CSS

Srinagar, May 14: Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting on Saturday to review the development of judicial infrastructure in the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and from Ladakh to Raj Bhavan.

During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the current status of the infrastructure of the judiciary under the High Court of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. He was briefed on budget allocation, use of funds for infrastructure development in court complexes in previous years, future plans and major projects being implemented.

The Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Justice also briefed the meeting on the status of the work carried out under the programs sponsored by the center.

The Union Justice Minister has ordered the officers concerned to identify all shortcomings relating to the development of judicial infrastructure under the High Court of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. He said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, special priority was given to the development of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh and North East regions. He assured that sufficient funding will be allocated to fill all the gaps in the judicial infrastructure in the UTs of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; Vivek Bhardwaj, Commissioner of Finance (Additional Chief Secretary) Department of Finance; GR Raghavender, Joint Secretary (National Mission for the Administration of Justice and Legal Reforms), Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice; Sanjeev Gupta, Registrar General, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh; Achal Sethi, Legal Secretary, J&K; Preet Pal Singh, Secretary of Legal Department, UT of Ladakh, and other senior officers.
