More than 100 law enforcement officials respond to officer’s fatal shooting

NICHOLAS COUNTY W.Va (WVVA) – In the wake of the shooting that left 1 dead and another injured, the West Virginia law enforcement community is showing support from all corners of the state.

The criminal complaint says 4 MPs responded to a call from 2 men barricaded in a motorhome. They were armed with an AR-15. After the officers attempted to defuse the situation, the suspects became hostile and fired at the officers.

Lt. Ruble said standard protocol in this situation is to fall back and call in reinforcements.

Part of the backup came from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department nearly 70 miles away. Captain Lilly said several crews were dispatched.

They joined a force of more than 100 officers who responded to Friday’s call for reinforcements.
