The School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration at Western Illinois University has been named the best online criminal justice degree in Illinois for 2021.
WIU was ranked number one out of 10 schools on the list compiled by Criminal Justice Degree Hub, which used data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and Niche to rank programs based on tuition, the reputation and salary of graduates.
“I am thrilled to receive this recognition as the number one online criminal justice program in Illinois,” said LEJA School Principal Jill Myers. “We are continually updating and revising our curriculum to feature all current state and national standards.
“We recently revised our curriculum to include Illinois’ 2021 SAFE-T Police ‘Reform Bill’ which went into effect in July, and we’ve added two new post-baccalaureate certificates entirely online to meet the specific goals and needs of our students and professionals, and specifically to improve social justice, equity, inclusion, and community relations between law enforcement and citizens, we have added a Community Involvement and Public Safety Leadership Certificate Program. Additionally, due to the increasing number of disasters and crises occurring in the region and globally, we have added an Emergency Management Certificate Program. These online courses are interactive, engaging, and content-rich to meet the needs of current and future criminal justice professionals. »
